Coding for Compliance -
Coding mistakes cost time and delay reimbursement. Making assumptions
can cost you your practice! We'll give you the tools to help you achieve
consistent, compliant coding, so you can minimize risk and maximize
success. We'll cover the rules and guidelines necessary to achieve
compliance. A brief overview of the elements of a compliance plan will
follow.
Audits and Investigations -
Internal audits involve a systematic approach to review the reliability and
integrity of the billing and coding operations and highlights opportunities for
improvement. We'll discuss what to look for in an audit and demonstrate
the steps necessary to perform a successful internal audit.

Compliance Violations -
Compliance is an issue at virtually every step of the health information
process. We will give you the guidelines necessary to assess your risk
factors and the tools to correct violations. We will also discuss how to
get your claims paid under the new Medicare appeals process.
Compliance Update -
HIPAA mandated that every healthcare provider obtain and use a unique
10-digit NPI (National Provider Identifier) by May 23, 2007. Learn how to
obtain your number and use it on the new mandated CMS 1500 (08-05) form.
The new form will be optional until April 2, 2007 and mandatory thereafter.
