Hi Angela -

There are tons of companies selling billing center software. Be sure to check them out with the Better Business Bureau, find out how long they have been in business, and talk to others who have used their software.

The software we used when we started our Billing Center is Santiago's OneClaim Plus. They have been in business over 19 years - if you want to check out their site they are at http://www.sdsinteractive.com they have a forum for you to ask questions.

Check out your area and call some doctors, ask them about outsourcing their claims, also call some billing centers to see what they are charging (pretend you are a doctor's office)

Some areas of the country are harder to get started than others! Go into any new business with your eyes open.

One thing I can not stress enough is to know your material. Take some coding classes either in your town or on-line with us. Remember you want to be able to communicate with your provider not only about your software, but about how you would help them code their claims - helping the provider increase revenue is what is all about.

Your focus should always be on your Provider. By helping your Provider be successful - you inturn will become successful.

I hope this helps.

Liz Jones :-)

I am a second year student looking for an opportunity to do an overseas rotation in infectious diseases for about a month. Any info about such a program would be great. Any info about a US based program would be helpful as well

HCPC for Casting Supplies

We use HCPC A4590 for billing casting supplies (fiberglass, goretex, ect). Normally, we bill with the HCPC, description and quantity. Recently, we've been advised to bundle all casting supplies to one HCPC code with one price-no description of supply or quantity. This apparently is what Medicaid guidelines indicate. Anyone have any supporting documentation on this issue?
